The Guideless Path
Maybe 3-400 people live in the village of Hard Earth. It’s a real mix of cultures and races but no one is wealthy on a world scale, few are desperately poor when things are good, but at the end of a tough winter many are looking like a few meals have been skipped. Generally the people of the town are involved in the trade of goods into and primary produce out of the region, or production of the basics of life, there is no industry or export of anything locally manufactured. The village has most services you’d want in a village given that it serves as the riverport for a farming, mining and hunting community known as the Western Downs.
Commonly known services:
The Battered Wife – A bar that has beer at the right price and the wrong crowd at the wrong time almost all the time.
The Stowed Oar – A travellers inn that also serves locals who prefer not to be too much part of the furniture, literally and figuratively.
The Stuck Pig – Eatery and gaming house (higher class of clientele, still full of heavy drinkers, these ones have homes to go to)
The Winterborn family – traders, river transport
Arbright Winterborn – boat builder
